(updated) Blue Eyed Book

Rigged 13-eye creature book asset created for animation and VFX.
Features full gaze systems, an eyelid rig, organic deformation, and 2K PBR textures.
Textures were made from real photos I took, edited in Krita, then refined again inside Blender.
All procedural materials were baked into new texture maps, on a low-poly mesh with clean, optimized topology.

This reflects the mood I envisioned for the asset: a dark, atmospheric scene with dramatic lighting.

Look how intriguing it is. Let me share a bit more about this creation…

Three animation modes: Look-At sphere, master joystick for all 13 eyes, and group controls (A, B, C). They have override, so you can set a general pose and refine it with another mode.

Textures come from my own photos, combined with Blender procedural nodes for this detailed surface.

The eyes are made of two objects: a textured base underneath and a glass layer on top.

These are all the objects that form the book. Since it uses subsurface scattering, I added a black matte box inside to block light and give it an internal body, adding only six faces.

I work on a 2012 MacBook Pro with no dedicated GPU, so this Cycles render is just a quick preview. A full 200-frame animation can take up to 20 hours. This isn’t everything the asset can do, or how good it can look —just what I can preview for now.

Baked textures included: AO, BaseColor (Albedo), Normal Map, Roughness and Metalness for all the objects. Here a quick sample (selection)
